Hopeful Futures is a project that was a two year long collaboration between the University of Dundee and design research agency Quicksand. The aim of the project was to co-create new stories that explore how powerful developments in emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things, the voice enabled internet, machine learning and artificial intelligence might be harnessed to support rural communities in India.

‘Treefingers’ is a response piece to this project. A collaboration with mixed media artist Pia Meenakshi, the response took the form of a magazine article, published roughly 50 years from now in the imagined publication ‘World Farming Magazine’
